Lufthansa Systems has awarded the contract for the joint development of its market-leading Lido/Flight 4D flight planning system to the Software & IT (S&IT) services provider Nagarro. Lido/Flight is the dominant flight planning solution in Europe and has a global market share of 35%.
The next generation product, which is currently used by more than 60 airlines, will provide additional functionality, optimised performance, increased scope of automation and enhanced data visualisation. Additionally the system will provide closer integration of a wider set of flight related data.
Nagarro will be responsible for the integration and the development of new components for the processing of large complex data sets, as part of a service-oriented architecture (SOA). The new product will consume data from a multiplicity of external sources providing an additional degree of information context.
Lufthansa Systems will focus on the strategic ongoing development of the product, project management and software integration. Nagarro will assume time-intensive and complex IT tasks, such as detailing software architecture and programming tasks. This is a proven operating model that the partners have successfully applied in the past to implement complex software products.
