Gain control over your carbon footprint to simplify the path to net zero

As the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) new mandatory measures for reducing the sector’s carbon intensity are set to enter into force on 1 November 2022, shipping companies will be required to calculate the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and establish their annual operational carbon intensity indicator (CII) for each vessel. As a result, companies will need intelligent solutions to efficiently monitor and track their carbon footprint.

Enter Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, a carbon accounting product for businesses to drive climate action to accelerate the world’s efforts towards carbon neutrality. With Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, companies can now have a 360-degree view of their environmental impact and provide data-driven insights to make necessary changes that the planet will notice.

Nagarro can help shipping companies enhance their logistics and supply chain operations while taking sustainability into account. With a focus on building capabilities around Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, Nagarro has created a custom configuration dashboard using Salesforce Net Zero Cloud. It enables organizations to configure assets, capture energy utilization levels, calculate carbon footprint, create emission reports, and derive actionable insights.

This proposed solution has 4 key dashboards that bring together a complete package to produce the required insights in the sustainability space for shipping companies.

Dashboard #1

Carbon emission levels and related parameters at a region, country, and port level

The dashboard shows the carbon emission levels of shipments along with the related parameters namely - intensity, utilized capacity, weights, and distance traveled by the shipment. These numbers can be filtered basis the shipment origin at a region, country, and port level.

Origin of the shipments (ports/country/region) utilized capacity (in terms of TEU), and energy usage records are required to produce this dashboard. This dashboard helps the firms to focus on those regions, countries, and ports, where carbon emissions are high basis mapped parameters.

Below is one such view that shows the carbon emission levels and the intensity across top ports.

Dashboard #2

Carbon emission levels from different types of containers

The dashboard shows the carbon emission levels of shipments and the total utilized capacity based on different container types. To generate this dashboard, the energy usage records with container type information, utilized capacity (in terms of TEU) are required. This dashboard helps the firms to adopt sustainable strategies by selecting the appropriate container types.

Dashboard #3

Scope-wise carbon emissions at a region and country level

The grid displays the information about the scope 1 emission from different regions and countries. It gives a high level picture on the top ship classes, regions and countries that contributes significantly to environmental problems.

Dashboard #4

Trend analysis of distance covered and carbon emissions of shipments

The charts display the average distance travelled by the shipments and the average emission per shipment across monthly timeline. These charts help in visualizing the marginal impact shipping on the environment.
