AI-powered digitalization for Palma Aquarium Marine Park

Streamlining operations and ensuring customer satisfaction by automating repetitive processes with travel agencies and tour operators

A significant share of Palma Aquarium’s visitors comes from tour operators and travel agencies. Until the summer of 2024, these visits were registered manually. Guests entered the park with a paper voucher, which the finance department later used to control revenue and payment collections. Each agency and tour operator had its own format, complicating an administrative process that was entirely manual and prone to errors. This not only slowed down voucher registration and validation but also caused mistakes that affected logistics and threatened the park’s reputation. Palma Aquarium realized the need for an unified tool to automate reservation registration and validation.

The Nagarro team helped Palma Aquarium in implementing AI tools that automatically extract information from various formats—PDFs, emails, images, and photos of handwritten vouchers and tickets. This approach standardized data collection, eliminating manual input and adding an automated validation layer to catch potential AI errors. Voucher management was integrated to the e-commerce platform that was previously developed by Nagarro. This enabled the entire process to be centrally managed in real-time.

Additionally, the digitization system was made future-proof so that going ahead, Palma Aquarium is completely independent to configure the system as per their needs.

With this set-up Palma Aquarium gets the autonomy to independently adjust processes, while retaining the flexibility and scalability they need to adapt to future changes. The new solution resulted in:

  • 40+ vouchers processed per minute, and,
  • automation of 13 travel agencies and tour operators (representing 95% of total reservations).

Around 850+ digitalized reservations were completed in October 2024 itself.
