Enhancing security and maximizing value with Atlassian Cloud

Seamless Transition: Over 400 projects, 600+ spaces, 1TB data, 2000 users, and 25+ plugins successfully migrated to Atlassian Cloud

the challenge
While many aspects of the Atlassian Cloud migration are standardized, migrating large volumes of data from On-Prem to cloud with many marketplace apps involved complex mapping and transformation processes to ensure data integrity and completeness. During the execution, we also faced complications with the Migration Assistant tools to facilitate the migration while handling such large data and a variety of plugins. Projects and issue relationships and third-party plugin data in Jira on-prem had dependencies that required careful handling during migration. Moreover, coordinating efforts across teams and stakeholders while ensuring a seamless end-user experience made the project even more complex.

the solution
Nagarro conducted a comprehensive discovery workshop to analyze Jira and Confluence server instances and shared a thorough assessment report outlining the implications of the transition to the cloud, proposing alternate cloud add-ons, and presenting a detailed migration plan. The team performed extensive cleanup and standardization to reduce overall size before the production migration. To ensure a seamless transition and maintain consistency in user experience, we implemented add-ons and customizations on the cloud platform to mirror the functionalities on the server. Thorough testing and validation were performed to ensure data integrity. Additionally, we provided post-migration support to business users along with end-user training for smooth adoption of the cloud platform.

the outcome
The migration of over 400 projects, 600+ spaces, with overall 1TB data, 2000 users, and 25+ plugins to the Atlassian Cloud was executed seamlessly and within the estimated timeframe. The implementation resulted in performance improvement due to standardization and cleanup of Jira and Confluence instances. As a result, we achieved enhanced security with latest features in the cloud and reduced cost of maintenance of the migrated toolset.
