the challenge
Nagarro was entrusted with migrating the client's Jira Software, which serves more than 10,000 users to the Atlassian Cloud. For over a decade, the client had been hosting an instance of over 3000 projects and 12 marketplace apps; precision was paramount. Certain plugins presented a significant challenge and required careful adherence to timelines due to different plugin versions on the server and cloud.

the solution
Nagarro's Atlassian Team facilitated a discovery workshop and presented a comprehensive assessment report outlining options for cloud migration. We focused on streamlining the process through cleanup and standardization efforts. Leveraging JCMA, the entire user base and projects were migrated to the Atlassian Cloud, ensuring the transfer of plugin data and attachments. We worked closely with the plugin vendors to overcome the challenges presented by plugins and ensure that the team performed the tasks with precision. Moreover, we offered native Jira alternatives for plugins to cut costs and created custom-scripted solutions (using Groovy and Python) for data preparation and post-migration adjustments.

the outcome
The client switched to Atlassian Cloud and took advantage of the cloud-only features, leading to cost savings and improved availability, security, and reliability. Over 2 million issues, more than 10,000 users, more than 3000 projects and more than 10 plugins were migrated to the Atlassian Cloud. We implemented add-ons and customizations to provide users with a similar experience as on the server. Further, we provided intensive support to ensure everything ran smoothly for the business and end users.
