success story

Analyzing survey data in real-time

Leveraging low-code in data collection & management processes, supporting the conservation of the Wadden Sea National Park, Germany (for Schutzstation Wattenmeer e.V. - an NPO based in the area)

challenge

•    The client wanted to simplify the project setup. The mandatory feedback process between volunteers and management and data manipulation requirements created a complex system
•    The client also needed help with several operational issues ranging from delayed manual submissions to incorrect data mapping and missing data.

solution

•    To identify and evaluate the client's challenges, we conducted a business process analysis into the existing legacy process - as the first step. Then, a consulting phase was carried out to design and specify the high-level requirements for a digital solution
•    Since the client was already working in the Google environment and based on their specific requirements, we chose Google Appsheet as the best-fit platform for their digital transformation journey
•    We selected four different paper-based monitoring processes for digitalization. They are now accessible via smartphones and tablets on the field for the volunteers
•    The solution also comprises a web-based platform for the management to access and analyze the captured data
•    The solution supports on/offline mode, two languages to choose from, and prompt feedback and status updates from the management.

outcome

•    More accurate data collection during the monitoring sessions, on-the-go analyses and reporting, status tracking, and bulk editing
•    The management dashboards now track the status of the monitoring sessions in real-time
•    Daily email notifications ensure that the staff doesn’t miss any important incidents
•    Communication with the 18 stations through the feedback process within the application can speed up and simplify the routine processes of data quality control
•    The storage of all data collected by 18 stations in one central database opens the possibility of extracting comprehensive data packages using simple export routines with only a few clicks – this reduces the time required for data extraction by about 95%
•    Data on various topics can now easily be exported from the database and passed on to other institutions or scientists for further analysis
•    Citizen developers at the NPO can easily make changes in the application now without external support
•    The developed application is a scalable platform for future projects. It was executed in the most cost-effective approach with low code, an essential criterion for NPOs.

Nagarro clearly specified our requirements. Second, they visualized them really well; and third, they successfully implemented them. Considering our specific requirements, the strong support during the course of the project, and the smooth cooperation across national borders mean that I can recommend Nagarro without any hesitation.
