the challenge
A heterogeneous API framework used by different teams was restricting collaboration across the internal lines of business for employees. Maruti Suzuki's challenge was to enable data exchange across its lines of business (like Finance, Mobility, Dealerships, Parking systems etc.) through APIs and services. They also wanted to enable an ecosystem that utilizes these services as reusable assets. Besides these challenges, they were also facing hurdles in establishing new revenue channels.

the solution

Nagarro built an API management platform based on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which standardized collaboration across the business. Our solution was driven through consultation, adoption, and enterprise-level roll out for API Management. We performed an extensive due diligence exercise, involving all MSIL stakeholders to discover and identify business case requirements, expected value / outcome, APIM platform evaluation, and recommendation.

Our technical design and implementation included AWS API Gateway, Developer portal and other AWS services (Lambda, Cognito, WAF, Route53) with React JS framework for Developer Portal User Experience for all partners & applications, to fulfil MSIL’s requirements.

the outcome
With an Enterprise-level API Management, MSIL now has an overarching solution to standardize, catalogue, secure, administer, operate, and monetize all their API services across their IT landscape. They have been able to move towards an “API as a product” strategy and have been able to collaborate seamlessly within the organization. This increased their business agility and enhanced customer journeys and interactions making it personalized for partners, dealers, and customers.
Nagarro API Management team has done a commendable job in developing an enterprise level API management developer portal built on AWS for MSIL. This has enabled better API governance, standardization of API development strategy, standardized API catalogue, uniform customer onboarding journey, and enhanced enterprise security across the MSIL landscape.
