Putting railways on the fast-track

How we shaped an organization-wide agile transformation

challenge
Our client, a major player in Austria's railway business, sought to initiate agile initiatives for the entire group, starting from the bottom up. While some initiatives were in place, they were not driven at the group level. Furthermore, bringing together stakeholders from different entities and departments posed a challenge. They needed to unify these stakeholders and develop a cohesive "team for driving agile transformation."

solution
Nagarro designed and executed a workshop series concept that involved key stakeholders from various departments and group entities. This approach analyzed the existing status and identified potential opportunities for agile transformation. The collaborative effort produced a detailed report and a concept outlining potential developments for agile transformation. Building on this foundation, Nagarro continued to accompany the client through quarterly workshop series, reflecting on results, developing new topics, and updating the agile transformation roadmap. This advisory role extended to methodologies and strategies for agile transformation.

outcome
This journey fostered close collaboration among key stakeholders, bridging the gaps between departments and group entities. A strong sense of unity emerged as these stakeholders began driving the change initiative together as one team, now operating at the group level. New ways of working (like a practice community) were introduced, further enhancing collaboration and innovation. The journey toward sustainable agile transformation laid the foundation for client-centric development, innovative change, and improved competitiveness in the railway business.
