The moment I started looking for a job change, I had a clear vision of what I wanted—a work environment that valued individuality and innovation above everything else. As I progressed with multiple discussions with my target companies, I realized that Nagarro stood out from the others. It was the only organization that focused on my entrepreneurial journey rather than just my experiences at large firms. While interviews at most of the companies revolved around my time with other CMM Level 5 companies, Nagarro was majorly intrigued by my start-up journey.

Nagarro’s non-hierarchical approach was evident throughout the interview process. Unlike other organizations that emphasized titles and had generic questions like “What were your responsibilities as a business analyst while at XYZ?” Nagarro seemed genuinely interested in my skills and experience.

The interviewers discussed the challenges I faced in the very first month of my start-up, tracking progress toward my vision and revising my plans along the way. Further, the interview process with Nagarro focused significantly on my failed start-up rather than my successful one. Instead of seeing this as a drawback, Nagarro valued the lessons I learned on resilience and adaptability through this experience. Many discussions revolved around how I restructured my ideas after initial setbacks, how the transition happened from running two start-ups in parallel to moving out of one, and what I learned and could have done differently.

This reminded me of Thomas Edison’s journey, where failures were considered simply as stepping stones to take him closer to his goals. Nagarro’s approach reflects a similar belief that failure can be a powerful teacher. By hiring individuals who have experience and learn from setbacks, Nagarro builds a team that is not only innovative but also resilient. This mindset is invaluable for clients seeking a partner who approaches challenges with adaptability and a willingness to learn.

After joining Nagarro, I was inducted into Nagarro’s CARING values (Client-centricity, Agility, Responsibility, Integrity, Non-hierarchy, and Global). Initially, these words seemed fancy, but later, on multiple occasions, I’ve witnessed how CARING values are deeply embedded in the work culture and shape every project and decision.

Attention to small and big decisions alike creates a huge difference in ensuring that solutions are tailored to the client’s unique needs and goals. This approach, rather than being generic or one-size-fits-all, reaffirms the client-centricity and responsibility that each individual takes in their work. The agility also enables Nagarro to respond to evolving client requirements swiftly while upholding a high standard of accountability. For a client, these values mean they’re not just working with a service provider but with a dedicated partner that prioritizes their success.

Fostering an entrepreneurial mindset: Encouragement to lead and innovate

In the past couple of years here, I have realized that Nagarro’s entrepreneurial mindset is another aspect that sets it apart. It is not just something they talk about; it is also followed up with action. Here, employees are encouraged to take ownership of their projects, experiment with new ideas, and bring innovative solutions to the table without being constrained by rigid hierarchies. Whether you are a seasoned professional with a decades-long stint at Nagarro or are a newbie fresh out of college, if you have an idea, you are free to voice it.

The worth of the idea will be decided later, tips for improvement will be given, and mentoring will be done. But to start it all, the encouragement to find your voice will be provided. It is then up to you to move forward with your idea. Early on, I was given significant responsibilities along with the freedom to explore solutions with my approaches. This level of trust and empowerment fostered a culture of innovation and honed my leadership skills.

This goes with Steve Jobs’ philosophy, where he famously said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” He understood that giving people the freedom to experiment is the best way to achieve true innovation, even if it means having futile attempts on the way. He truly believed that there are no breakthroughs without taking risks. Similarly, Nagarro doesn’t just hire individuals for their past achievements; it cultivates a culture where employees are motivated to think independently and push boundaries. For clients, this translates into a team that’s invested in delivering forward-thinking solutions tailored to an ever-evolving business landscape.

Another important factor in delivering forward-thinking solutions is adaptability, which is deeply embedded in Nagarro’s approach.
